Copy and Paste with Lisson Grove 1

There three main ways to copy results and information in the Lisson Grove Benefits Program. I will cover them in this blog and then go through some of the issues and problems that can arise in the next blog.

To copy in the Lisson Grove program you can either use the menu bar or  right click your mouse or wait until you get to the ‘you have completed this benefits assessment’ statement screen at the end.

To use the Menu Bar go to the Menu Bar at the top of the progam’s screen (File to Benefits Information) and then choose the Edit Menu and then choose one of the Continue reading

Mind the Gap: QBC and Legal Aid Calculator

On some (not all) Quick Benefits Calculator Training courses I usually end up explaining what the gap  is for on the Basic Details Screen.  The gap is the space above the Start What if button – bottom right of  the screen.  A number of people think that it is a design feature of the screen. It isn’t. It’s actually a space for the button which allows you to go to the Legal Aid Calculator.

The Legal Help Calculator (LHC) – (Legal Aid stuff) is a part of the Quick Benefits Calculator.  It calculates the amount of financial legal aid a client can get and uses the legal aid means-test. The LHC takes some information you have entered in the Benefits part of the QBC and uses that but because the means-tests on the benefit side and the legal aid side are different it allows you to tweak it.

To get the LHC you have to enable it and once enabled a button will appear on the Basic Details screen.  To enable the Legal Help calculator go to the Menu Bar (file to help at the top of the screen) Choose Configuration. Choose Configure. On the Configure box you will see “Check Legal Help Eligibility? – No” with a button next to it. It is second to bottom on the list (at the time of writing).  If you click that button an option dialog box appears. It asks you to read the help pages in the help manual. It also says you should be aware that there are limitations to the LHC. If you want to continue click Yes.

Once you click Yes you get another warning box asking you to phone Lisson Grove to let them know that you want to use the LHC. This is optional but is advisable. There is no extra cost involved. The LHC is part of your subscription. Once you tell them that you use the LHC you will get updates of the Quick Benefits Calculator and the LHC. If the LHC is updated but benefits are not then you will get the disc update. If you don’t register then you will just be on the benefits mailing list. Don’t worry – there’s no hard sell when you contact Lisson Grove – I would think that they will be happy with an email but there we are it’s up to you.

Once you click OK on the dialog box button you are taken to the Help Manual which explains how to use the legal help checker. If you close that down you will find that you are back to where you started from: at the configure dialog box. Click OK on the configure dialog box screen and you are taken back to the main Basic Details Screen.

You will now see the Legal Help button at the bottom of the screen it appears above the “Start what if?” report button.

Any problems please email.
